NCRSP wins the most awards of all of the states at the 2025 Convention!
NCRSP President Linda Gunter's Message
As the NCRSP delegation made its way to Portland, Oregon, some members encountered issues with canceled flights; however, everyone had plans to participate in the convention. Sandra Hatley, served on the New Business Item Committee, where she assisted members in writing their NBIs correctly. During the PAC auction, Sandra placed a bid and won a quart of bourbon for $600 bid. Linda Gunter served on the Election Committee, Tama Bouncer and Lena Morrill-Chapman, Grechen Lampe and Sandra Hatley each sponsored their own NBI. Ira Reed ran for a position on the Resolutions committee and was elected as an alternate.
At the 2025 NEA-Retired Annual Convention, North Carolina proved once again that our members’ dedication, creativity, and excellence shine on the national stage. I am thrilled to share that North Carolina captured more awards than any other state in the nation, a testament to the tireless work of our volunteers and leaders.
Our Carteret County Retired School Personnel (CCRSP) earned First Place for Best Local/Region Newsletter, a well-deserved recognition of their thoughtful, informative, and beautifully produced publication. To add to this honor, CCRSP also brought home the Runner-Up Award for Best Local/Region Website, highlighting their innovative outreach and communication with members.
At the state level, our Panorama newsletter was named Runner-Up for Best State Newsletter, continuing its tradition of high-quality content and design. In addition, the NCRSP State Website earned Runner-Up for Best State Website—an impressive follow-up after having been awarded Best National Website in 2024.
No other state matched North Carolina’s sweep of awards this year. This remarkable accomplishment demonstrates that NCRSP and its local units are not only leaders within our state but also respected models across the nation.
To every editor, webmaster, and volunteer who has poured time, energy, and love into our communications, I extend my deepest gratitude. These awards belong to all of us, and they affirm that North Carolina Retired School Personnel continue to set the standard for excellence nationwide.
